Who Was Margaret Geis Wright?

Margaret Geis Wright, a native of Kansas, was a storyteller, theater patron, mother, grandmother, and benefactor of East Palo Alto's youth. She supported wellness programs for our community's girls, and was a friend to those working with local young people. Margaret, or 'Sam' as she was known to those close to her, was nonjudgmental; saw good in everyone; loved children in particular; and had the gift of inspiring the best in the many whom she touched with her kindness. Ms. Wright's compassionate wisdom is distilled in this saying of hers: "Be an avid knowledge seeker . . . know yourself and be yourself . . . and nothing can stop you from being whatever you want to be."

Why the BOOKLIGHT?: Remembering Puneet

The booklight has been added to our event to honor one of our girls who died suddenly this year, Puneet. Puneet loved to read and we wanted to bring her with us as we continue to promote healthy lifestyles and support the growth of our girls.  The booklight will bring an educational focus on an important topic  that we want to shine a spotlight on every year. This year's spotlight will be on processing grief.  We will have educational materials and be distributing tools for all participants to use.
